Peel for iPhone 6 Plus Review

Peel-Super-Thin-Case

Like many others, I really like the feel of my iPhone with no case. Mainly because most cases add too much bulkiness to the extremely thin-design of the device. That said, letting your iPhone go “naked” without a case for protection is extremely risky!
iPhones are by no means unbreakable – just typing ‘shattered iPhone’ into Google comes up with almost two million images of smashed Apple smartphones.

Now, with the new thinner/bigger designs of both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, it makes these screens even more susceptible to shattering! Worry no further, my cybersphere friends! Peel cases for iPhone 6/Plus have you covered!

I really appreciate the incredible design of the iPhone 6/Plus (major creds to Jony Ive!). Therefore, protecting my iPhone with a big, bulky case kind of defeats the purpose of the phone’s ultra-thin design. The Peel case is super-thin. Coming in at just 0.35mm thick, Peel is so thin that it almost feels like I don’t have a case on my iPhone!

So, what’s another awesome thing about all of Peel’s cases? They are 100% branding free, so your iPhone will look as minimalistic as possible. No annoying or obtrusive logos here!

Now, you might be thinking: “If the Peel case is so thin, it probably won’t protect my precious iPhone very well.” But hold on! During my time with the case, the Peel actually did a very good job of protecting my iPhone. From accidental drops (from about hip-height), to resting it on a table, to falling out of the car, the Peel case definitely proved it can protect an iPhone just as well as some of the other cases on the market. That said, however, the Peel case probably doesn’t fair as well when you drop your iPhone from any higher than hip-height, as compared to cases from LifeProof or Otterbox, for example (but the slim design wins out for me!).

One semi-irritation/complaint that many people have had with the newest generation of iPhones is that the back camera protrudes from the device, causing a bit of wobbliness when the iPhone is laid flat. (See CultOfMac’s post here). Problem solved when using the Peel case! It is just thick enough to put a stop to the wobbliness caused by the sixth-generation’s camera lens sticking out. Peel case also helps protecting your iPhone’s camera lens! By not having the lens stick out, the Peel case protects the lens from everyday scratches, dust, etc that forms when you set your device down on a table or counter-top. Top-notch design!

The Peel case is absolutely perfect for people who don’t like having a case on their iPhone, and at the same time don’t want to damage their precious Apple smartphone. Peel’s super-thin cases are (you guessed it!) super thin, they protect your iPhone and its camera, they are completely 100% branding free, and they come in three different classy colorways to match your iPhone – gold, silver, or black. Additionally, coming in at just $24.99, the Peel case is a perfect gift for that special techie-someone.

Quick Review: Peel Super Thin Case for iPhone 5S

photo 5

The Peel Super Thin Case for iPhone is exactly what it says it’s going to be: a simple, thin, and branding-free iPhone case that showcases the incredible design of the iPhone 5S.

The Peel Case weighs in at just 0.35mm thick, which is perfect for people who love to have the “naked” feel on their beloved Apple smartphone.

The Peel case ships in three different color variations that resemble that of the iPhone 5S – Black, Gold, & White. I reviewed the Gold version of the case, and I would definitely recommend the Gold color option to everyone who wanted to purchase the champagne-gold iPhone 5S, but due to low stock & high demand, were not able to get acquire one. The gold finish on the Peel Super Thin Case definitely satisfies my champagne/gold smartphone woes, as it makes my new Black / Slate Grey iPhone 5S look more like the Gold iPhone that I thought I really wanted.

As far as protection for your iPhone goes using the Peel case, I would not say that protection is it’s strongest selling-point, however protection was not #1 on the priority list when designing this product.

The Peel Case for iPhone 5S is an excellent case for people who love to use (and show off!) a “naked”-feeling iPhone 5S, and the complete branding-free, see-through, and thin design of the Peel Super Thin Case definitely add to it’s appeal. However, if your protection needs for your iPhone 5S are a little higher than setting it down on tables or the occasional drop, I would recommend looking at a bit heavier/bulkier cases to protect your iPhone.

The Peel Super Thin Case for iPhone 5S, 5C, 5, & 4/S are available on Peel’s website for an amazing deal of just $20.

Review: LifeProof Case for iPhone 4/4S

Are you one of those people who like to tweet in the shower? How about Facebook in the bathtub? Taking pictures in the pool? There are tons of reasons, weird and not, why people would want to do these things, and that’s where the LifeProof iPhone case comes in.

A little about LifeProof:

LifeProof is a young, vibrant company based in San Diego that designs, manufactures and markets LifeProof cases for all-environmental protection, functionality and interactivity to SmartPhones and Tablet PCs.

The registered brand name ‘LifeProof’ is inspired by the protection and fully functional convenient operation of the device in rain, in water while swimming or surfing, in mud, sand, dust, snow or ice. The company mantra is ‘Freedom’ – freedom to be connected anywhere with your mobile device; freedom to build relationships, gain knowledge, exercise, and juggle work; freedom for all people anywhere to go everywhere.

So can this LifeProof case really protect your iPhone from all these elements? To find out, keep reading my review of the LifeProof case for iPhone!

Quality

The LifeProof case is made out of very durable, hard plastic, that will protect your precious iPhone from scratches, drops, and more. All of the materials used in the LifeProof case are of very high-quality, and your paying for it. After my two weeks of testing the LifeProof case, I saw no signs of deterioration, scratches, or any of the color chipping or rubbing off, something that I feel is pretty incredible after all the torturous things I put the LifeProof case through. (If you don’t believe me, look at the image gallery.)

Usability/Design

Usually adding this much protection in one case makes your iPhone very bulky and heavy, but the LifeProof case manages to keep a sleek-profile by adding only 1/16 inches (1.5mm) to your iPhone.

The LifeProof case is also very light, weighing in at 28 grams, so you don’t have to worry about it adding any extra weight to your iPhone. Also, the LifeProof case is available in 4 unique colors; Black, White, Pink, & Purple.

The designers at LifeProof did an excellent job creating the LifeProof case as well, by adding slots for the charging port as well as the headphone jack at the top of the iPhone. Also on the back, the designers did a great job with the camera by making sure that it was very protected while taking away from the clarity of the 4S’ 8 megapixel and new optics.

Protection

This is the main thing that everyone cares about for the LifeProof case. Can it protect your iPhone if you drop it? What about going underwater? What happens if you run it over?

LifeProof has run many tests on their new LifeProof case (videos here), and so have I, and I can whole-heartedly say that the LifeProof case is a tank of a iPhone case.

LifeProof states on their website that the LifeProof case “has a unique design that makes it waterproof to a rated depth of 2 Meters (6.6ft)”, and I tested that thoroughly and I can prove this statement true, having submerged my iPhone many times in pools, bath-tubs, sinks, coolers, etc… and each time my iPhone came out of the LifeProof case dry as a bone.

LifeProof also states on their website that the LifeProof case “is designed for a high degree of shock and impact protection and has been tested to Military Specifications MIL-STD-810F-516.5. Meaning that it can be dropped on all surfaces and edges onto concrete from a height of 2 meters (or 6.6ft).” I can also say this statement is true and more so, as I have dropped my iPhone from greater distances and it came out of the LifeProof case perfectly fine.

Overall

Right now this is THE iPhone case to beat in terms of protection, functionality, and design. LifeProof has done an amazing job in creating their first product and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next. You can read more about the LifeProof case and purchase it on LifeProof’s company website here.
